CONSERVATION TIPS

  • Have your heating system serviced by one of our highly trained oilheat technicians. This will keep your system running at peak efficiency, and it also gives us the opportunity to make other energy saving suggestions to you.
     
  • Consider upgrading your heating system. New modern system can reduce your heating oil consumption by up to 40%and the money you save is tax-free dollars each and every year after the installation.
     
  • Install a programmable thermostat, which will heat your home comfortably when your home, and lower the temperature when you’re out.
     
  • When setting your thermostat, have an eight-degree differential between the high and low setting. Example: 70 degrees high – 62 degrees low.
     
  • Caulk those windows. Your home loses 25% of its heat through leaking windows and doors.
     
  • Open blinds, drapes and curtains during a sunny day, and close them at night to keep in the heat.
     
  • Close fireplace dampers and kitchen exhaust vents when not in use.
     
  • Don’t block heating vents or heating baseboard with furniture, carpeting or drapery.
     
  • Repair all hot water faucet leaks. Those little drips can add up to big dollars.
