- Consider upgrading your heating system. New
modern system can reduce your heating oil consumption by up to

after the installation.
- Install a programmable thermostat, which will
heat your home comfortably when your home, and lower the temperature
when you’re out.
- When setting your thermostat, have an
eight-degree differential between the high and low setting. Example:
70 degrees high – 62 degrees low.
- Caulk those windows. Your home loses 25% of its
heat through leaking windows and doors.
- Open blinds, drapes and curtains during a sunny
day, and close them at night to keep in the heat.
- Close fireplace dampers and kitchen exhaust vents
when not in use.
- Don’t block heating vents or heating baseboard
with furniture, carpeting or drapery.
- Repair all hot water faucet leaks. Those little
